We start by building relationships. We take the time to get to know you, what’s important to you, and the people who are important in your life. This might include conversations with you and your support network, and with your permission, reviewing any previous reports.

Our PBS practitioners strive to improve a person’s quality of life & support them to participate more fully in all aspects of their life

We focus on understanding what is needed to keep you and those around you safe. Together, we identify immediate risks and ensure practical strategies are in place to support safety and reduce the risk of harm.

We complete a thorough assessment (a functional behaviour assessment) to build a full picture of you and your experiences. This includes understanding your life experiences, as well as the biological, psychological and social factors that may be shaping what’s happening for you now. We gather information through conversations, observations, data analysis and formal assessments to identify your needs and what might be contributing to behaviours.
Using what we’ve learnt through assessment, we work alongside you and your support network to develop practical, meaningful strategies. These are brought together into a behaviour support plan, designed around your needs and focused on building skills, supporting quality of life, and reducing behaviours that may pose a risk.

Once strategies are developed, we support everyone involved to understand and use them in everyday situations. We provide practical guidance and training so the plan can be applied consistently and confidently in day-to-day life.

We regularly check in to see how things are going. This includes reviewing data, talking with you and your support network, and making adjustments as needed. We continue what is working and work together to refine strategies as needed.
